*Includes news from our parent company Mitten Getaways Glamping Co.

  • What is glamping?
Glamping is outdoor camping with amenities and comforts, such as beds, electricity, and access to indoor plumbing, not usually available when camping. The term comes from a combination of the words “glamorous” and “camping”. Did we have you at “beds”?
  • When do you expect to open?
Lord willing, we hope to open in mid-2024.
  • What’s unique about Mitten Getaways’ glamping?
So much! We do year-round glamping, including the ever more popular winter glamping. We have a variety of glamping accommodations, so you can have a different experience each time you stay with us. We put space between our glamping sites for added peace and privacy, and we offer much to do onsite.
  • Do you have a guest loyalty program?
Funny you should ask. Funny we should name it our 5 Finger Discount Club. Michigander's "get it". Don't worry, it may be a steal, but it does not condone theft!
  • What is MI Mitten?
MI Mitten is your personal account at Mitten Getaways Glamping Co. It allows you to keep track of your orders, subscriptions, reservations, and event tickets. You can even create a wish list for our store, Mitten Market, and engage with our blog. Even if you haven't booked a stay, it's worth creating a MI Mitten account.
  • Who will I see at the resort?
Mike & Melissa Crowe are the founders and operators of Mitten Getaways. They live onsite to ensure their hospitality standards are upheld. There’s a good chance you’ll see them during your stay. You can learn about them on the Your Hosts page or “stalk” them on social media.
  • Glamazon Prime?
Got a surprise for your significant other or for the kids? Or just need something for your stay and it won't arrive before you leave home? Ship it to our resort and we'll put it inside your unit before your arrival or bring it to you when it arrives. We are not responsible for delayed deliveries, but if your package arrives after your departure, we will work with you to get it to you. Ship packages to: [Address coming soon]
  • Do you have handicap accessible lodging?
Yes! We have one accommodation that is handicap friendly, with easily accessible parking, ramp entry, and rails in the bathroom. You’ll see which site is handicap accessible while booking.
  • Do you offer group outings?
Yes, we call them Excursions. These group outings are custom-tailored, active, and immersed in nature. They are perfect for business retreats, church groups, family reunions, and the like. Please note that group reservations are still subject to each accommodation's stated guest limit and that camping outside of the MGGC accommodations (e.g., pitching your own tent) is not allowed.
  • How do I contact you?
Our Reach Out page has numerous ways to contact us. Please reach out with any questions or feedback before, during, or after your stay.
  • Is there a minimum night stay?
We have a two-night minimum stay requirement. But you’ll want to stay way longer than that!
  • Can we stay in more than one glamping accommodation?
You can! That will require two separate reservations. We’ll do our best to make sure you can go from one to the other, but you may be without a glamping structure from check out to check in time while we ready the accommodation after the previous night's guests.
  • What is your cancellation/refund policy?
Without our travel insurance, we offer a 95% refund if you cancel at least 45 days prior to your reservation. We do not issue refunds for weather, but don’t worry, there’s plenty to do even if it’s a little rainy (see the weather FAQ).
  • What is your travel insurance?
Travel insurance allows you to cancel or move your reservation if you contact us at least 24 hours prior to your check in. With travel insurance, cancellations receive a 95% refund and there are no fees to move a reservation. It must be purchased 45 days prior to your reservation and can be added on during booking or after by emailing
  • What is your resort fee?
We have an 8% resort fee applicable to all bookings, which allow us to provide access to our community facilities and activities, access to the lake, food and market services, wireless internet, and other amenities not included in the base room rate.
  • Are children allowed?
Yes, of course. We love welcoming families. We just ask that children under the age of 12 always be supervised by an adult.
  • What is your pet policy?
We love our furry glampers! We just ask that you keep your pet on a leash anytime it is outdoors, and do not leave your pet alone inside unless it is properly crated. You are financially responsible for any damage caused by your pets. Be sure to add a pet fee for each pet in the add-on section during booking or email us before arriving so we can add it for you. You can also reserve one of our crates for your pet if needed. Doo-doo remember that all pet waste must be cleaned up. 🐶
  • What happens if the weather forecast doesn’t look good for my stay?
All of our accommodations will keep you comfy and dry, regardless of the weather outside. Bring your umbrellas and we’ll provide plenty to do inside and outside your accommodation. We don’t offer refunds due to weather, but check out our travel insurance if you’re a fair weather glamper.
  • What are extras?
We offer linens, toiletries, a fridge, and lots more. If you don't want to pack something, we have lots of extras you can purchase while booking and we’ll place it at your glampsite before you arrive. That includes firewood, camp chairs, giant Jenga, and dozens of other things. Don’t see something you think we should offer? Let us know!
  • How should we prepare for our stay after we've booked?
Review all of the FAQs to become a "Mitten ninja", including knowing what to bring and what not to bring. Check out our Events and Reservables. Events on the resort sometimes require an RSVP or tickets to be purchased in advance. Reservables are on-site reservations and appointments for things like dining, classes, and spa services. Contact us if you need anything in advance of your arrival, like adding extras, guests, or other requests. Be prepared for an unexpected getaway in tranquility!
  • What should we bring?
Besides your favorite people, we recommend bringing: A good book Backpack and water bottles (for hiking) Clothing suitable for the day (and night) forecasts Comfortable shoes/hiking boots Firewood and lighters/matches (if you plan on having a fire) Flashlights or lanterns for any walks away from the site Groceries (see kitchen FAQ) Sunscreen Toiletries (see bathroom FAQ) Umbrella and rain jacket Your favorite family game or a deck of cards
  • What should we leave at home?
Cares and worries. Come prepared to relax and take in nature at its best. Loud audio equipment. You can play music inside or out, we just ask that it be kept to a level so surrounding guests cannot hear it from their glamp site. Motorized recreational vehicles or boats. Guests are not permitted to use motorized vehicles such as ATVs, snowmobiles, or similar items on the resort. Tents or other personal camping accommodations. Guests may not camp/glamp outside of the accommodations provided by the resort.
  • What’s included in my glamping site?
Accommodations like you’ve never seen before, with a floor, rugs, beds, lamps, comforters, chairs, heating & air conditioning, electrical outlets for charging your devices, coffee maker, and mini fridge. Outside your tent, you have two chairs, a charcoal grill, firepit, and picnic table.
  • How comfy can I expect to be?
Very! Each accommodation has a ductless mini-split heater/air conditioner and insulative liners that will keep you comfortable all year round. All except the covered wagons have a wood-burning fireplace for extra warmth that creates a beautiful atmosphere of intimacy and romance.
  • What’s the kitchen situation?
There is a kitchen or kitchenette! Appliances include a small fridge with freezer, electric hot plate/stove top, multi-function oven/toaster, sink, and of course a coffee maker. We provide dining ware for four, including plates, bowls, glasses, mugs, and silverware. Paper towels, a few pots and pans, and some cooking utensils are also included. There are dish towels, hand soap, dish soap, and dishwashing utensils. Microwaves may be requested and are subject to availability.
  • What’s the bathroom situation?
All of our glamping accommodations have their own private full bath attached, which includes a real toilet, sink, hot water, and shower (and in some cases a tub). These bathrooms include soap, shampoo, and towels. We also have a couple half baths in our community Quonset hut, which are open during daytime hours.
  • Hitting the hay?
It’s better than hay. Our top-of-the-line mattresses are specially designed for use in outdoor lodging. Their hydrophobic properties mean they do not retain moisture like regular foam or latex mattresses. A silver treatment eliminates bacteria and viruses, resulting in a clean and healthy mattress inside and outside.
  • What are reservables?
Reservables are appointments or reservations you can make for during your stay. Examples include spa services and sport courses.
  • How do we get there?
Google Maps is pretty reliable. Set your GPS to: [Address coming soon.]
  • When is check in?
Check-in starts at 3 pm. A code to the lock box will be in your arrival email. You can arrive any time, but we strongly recommend arriving before dusk as the sunsets are spectacular, and the country roads are easier to navigate.
  • Check in process?
When you arrive, please park in the guest lot at the welcome center. Check out the resort map below to see where that is and how to navigate the park. We have a one-way loop for vehicles. [RESORT MAP COMING SOON]
  • Forgot something?
We have some supplies available in case you left something at home. If you realize you forgot your toothbrush or something else your co-glampers would appreciate you having, please Reach Out to us to see what we have in stock.
  • Can I park at my glampsite?
To preserve peace and nature we do not allow vehicles to park at their glampsite. Not to worry though; most sites are less than a five minute walk from the guest lot, and we provide gladiator wagons to transport your luggage. Most guests prefer this to hearing cars and seeing headlights go past their glampsite throughout their stay. Of course if you need assistance, we are happy to help. Just Reach Out to us before your stay.
  • What activities are onsite?
We don’t want you to feel like you’re staying at a hotel; Mitten Getaways is not just a place to sleep. We have lots to do, year-round, in the warmer months, and even during the winter. Some of our faves include our barrel sauna, movies in the hut, our fitness trail, and miles of hiking. Here on our Expectations page you can find even more things to do on the resort. Check out our Events Calendar page for scheduled onsite and area happenings. Please note that some resort events will require an RSVP or tickets to be purchased if you plan to attend.
  • What can we do in the area?
Ann Arbor, Flint, and Lansing are all within 45 minutes of the resort, but you don't have to travel that far for plenty to do. Downtown Howell is just 15 minutes away, offering great restaurants, breweries, shopping, and activities. There are several nearby golf courses, the closest being just 12 minutes away. If you ski or snowboard, Mt. Brighton is just 25 minutes away. Check out our Community page for our faves and a link to the local visitor’s bureau with a more comprehensive list. For scheduled events on the resort and in the area, head to our Events page.
  • What do we eat?
You can prepare your own meals, stop by a food truck or picnic, or venture off-site to check out one of the amazing restaurants in the area. Each glampsite has its own kitchenette and grill. Check the calendar on our Events page for a schedule of food trucks and community picnics.
  • What if I need assistance?
Email us at glampers@mittengetaways if you need anything or head to our Reach Out page for all the ways to contact us.

Rules are posted inside each glamping structure and addressed within the FAQs here. Guests are expected to abide by these rules and may be asked to leave if they are found in violation of them.
  • What is your smoking policy?
Smoking is not allowed on the property.
  • Do you have Wi-Fi and cellular coverage?
    Yes, we have both.
  • Do you allow visitors?
We want to be mindful of the tranquility our guests (you) paid to experience and not overcrowd the resort. With the exception of limited community events, unregistered guests are not allowed.
  • When are quiet hours?
Quiet hours are from 9:00 pm to 9:00 am daily.
  • When is check out?
Check out is at 11 am. Please be sure to lock all doors before you leave so sasquatch doesn’t try and snag a free glamping experience.
  • What do I do with the items I rented?
No worries. Just leave anything you rented inside your glamping structure and we’ll take care of it. If it’s an outside item, leave it on your porch or deck.

  • What do I do with my guest wagon or sled?
If you used one, we appreciate you returning it to the designated area near the glamping guest lot.
  • How can I provide feedback on my stay?
We are always striving to improve, so we appreciate you providing feedback on your experience. Visit our Glamper Reviews page for more information.
