Our Experience at The Fields of Michigan

Last week we revisited our the first leg of our anniversary glamping weekend in South Haven. This week we wrap up the second half with our experience at The Fields of Michigan.

We had actually learned about The Fields over a year ago and met the owner at the Glamping Show last October, where she was a keynote speaker. We were especially excited to stay on her property, which holds nearly 20 canvas wall tents, and could be summed up as a 30 acre blueberry farm. The tents were significantly larger and better furnished compared to Off Map, and included a portable air conditioner. What we really liked was the wood mulch trails, additional tree cover, and wooded buffer between most tents.

After we booked, we were given some options for extras, including onsite massage, dinner, bike rentals, and a sailing charter. We wanted to book a massage, but there wasn't any availability. We stayed on a Sunday and Monday, so that may be why. Thankfully, we were able to book dinner Sunday night. And since it was our anniversary, we also booked the sunset sailing charter.

We mentioned it this podcast episode, and we'll mention it here again. The hospitality was what set our stay apart. When we arrived, signage directed us to park in the grass at the front of the property, and call a number. We were greeted by name and wished a "Happy Anniversary". Within a couple minutes, staff arrived in a UTV and gave us a ride to our tent, where we found a complementary bottle of blueberry wine, made from berries grown on the resort. Dinner, a four course meal, was phenomenal. We were pleased to find out breakfast was complementary and far above "continental". And the owner was present and serving at both breakfasts, giving us personal recommendations for things to do in the area, as well as "talking shop" with us.

The Fields is an upscale experience. Guests will pay a premium for the stepped up accommodations and the amazing hospitality, but so long as budget isn't everything, we highly recommend booking a stay at The Fields of Michigan.
