At the end of August, we had the privilege of attending a business leaders couples retreat through the ECO (Engage Community Organization) group, which we were welcomed to become a part of earlier this year. You can read more about the Fenton area, faith-based ECO Group in this past blog post. The retreat was a three-day, two-night getaway to the Grand Haven area. It included three one-hour sessions focused on strengthening marriage, including conflict and sex (of course two things married couples rarely have problems with 🤣). The speaker was really knowledgeable and engaging. Besides the sessions, we also had two smaller breakout dinner reservations with other couples, who were different each night. It was a great opportunity to get to know other business owners from our area. We are especially thankful for Mike and Keri Lay and Charity Gear who planned and organized the entire retreat, including surprising us with really thoughtful gifts for each couple: a handwritten note, two awesome beach chairs, a book (The Love Dare), and a bunch of drinks and snacks. Next year we'll stay up late for game night with the group. A night of no kids to interrupt our sleep was just too appealing!
